For years now, Matt’s prayer had been the same: “Jesus, thank you sa food; thank you for our family. Hatagi kami money (Give us money); Hatagi kami food (Give us food); In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.” The same prayer he recites before meals and before sleeping. No matter how I encourage him to pray as if he were talking to God, his prayers are automated, spewed out like in a click of a button. Lately, though, he added another line to his prayer: “Gusto ko brother” (I’d like a brother).
His parents think that another brother (or sister) would be nice, but as practical-headed parents and individuals they just could not visually imagine, or even think of handling another baby in the house.
And so, despite our attempts to sour away his desire for a brother, Matt never neglects to add that request every time he prays.
We all, like Matt are waiting for a miracle.
