Didto sa Amon

Over there --- the wind is singing
with the sound of our loves' voices;
The maya birds flit from tree to tree.

Over there ---the food feeds our souls
with the fires of our mothers and grandmothers.
And it is always summer.

Over there --- we gather
under the mango tree as the shadows fall
'mid the clucking of lizards
and the frogs' croaks.

Over there ---we embrace the sun
with wide arms and open faces,
and we squeal with delight
as we dance in the rain.

Our homesick hearts will hope forever
that our sons and daughters
will always remember
the wonder that is over there...
